Hot 97 FM (WQHT) is an Urban Contemporary radio station that broadcasts to the New York metropolitan area using the frequency 97.1 FM and to the world via online live streaming. The station is operated by Emmis Communications and its transmitter is located at the Empire State Building.
Hot 97 FM was one of the first radio stations in the world offering programming focused on the Hip Hop scene and music. Being at the heart of the Hip Hop scene, the station has faced several controversies since its launch in the 40s and has often been the stage of many rivalries between artists as well as the cause of many feuds.
The station is also renowned for its annual concenter series Summer Jam and for its segment Who’s Next that showcases and gives the floor to new and promising Hip Hop artists.
The Ebro in the Morning show, hosted by DJs Ebro, Laura Stylez, and Rosenberg, has steadily remained the most popular and controversial station’s program for several years.
