Pirate Cat Radio (KPCR) is a community radio network broadcasting on KPCR 92.9 FM in Los Gatos, KMRT 101.9 FM in Santa Cruz, and KVBE 91.1 FM in Portland. It’s run by volunteers and supported by listeners who believe in independent media and free expression. The station airs a mix of punk, indie, ska, experimental, and local music, along with talk shows, comedy, and community news. Many of its programs are created and hosted by local DJs, musicians, and activists who bring their own voices and perspectives to the air. Pirate Cat Radio’s mission is to keep the airwaves open to the public, promote media literacy, and challenge misinformation. It also works to support local artists, small venues, and grassroots movements.
